Streamline your data access: masking exception requests now available for assets

We are excited to share a significant update to Immuta’s self-service access capabilities: masking exception requests are now available for individual assets.

Previously, the ability to request exceptions to masking policies (revealing masked data for specific columns) was exclusive to curated data products. With this update, we are bringing that same granular control to your raw data assets - databases, schemas, and tables - allowing for a more flexible and integrated workflow.

What’s new?

  • Asset-level exceptions: Users can now request to reveal masked data within specific columns directly on an asset, without needing a pre-defined data product.
  • Catalog integration: We’ve introduced access request links specifically for masking exceptions. You can embed these deep links directly into your existing data catalog (e.g., Atlan, Alation, Collibra, or your internal portal).
  • Direct-to-request workflow: When a user discovers a masked asset in your catalog, they can click a single link that brings them directly to the Immuta request form with the asset and request type already populated.

Why this matters

Your data catalog is where your users go to discover data; Immuta is where you secure it. By integrating these workflows, you remove the "swivel-chair" effect. Users no longer have to navigate between tools to find data and then ask for masked data to be revealed—they can initiate the request the moment they find the asset.
